Transferring files from PC to PC

Table of contents

Today you have different scenarios of how to easily transfer files from one PC to another PC, from old-fashioned transfer cables and flash drives to emails, cloud storage services, external hard drives and platforms like JUMBOmail. Here's how to do each.

Flash drives

Though using flash drives is as direct way of transferring files as direct can be, they are considered to be the most insecure. If your flash drive falls into the wrong hands while being improperly encrypted, whoever has it can reveal all of your confidential data.

However, USB drives are relatively inexpensive compared to most of the external storage devices out there.

USB Bridge Cables

Transferring files using USB might seem like a simple process at first sight, because it requires only a cable to interconnect 2 devices. In fact, a regular USB cable will not work for this type of file transfer. In this case, you will need a USB bridge cable — a special type of USB cable with a small microprocessor built into the cable. It looks like a small box in the middle of the cable.

For this type of transfer PCs need to be physically next to each other, which is not the best solution when it comes to convenience and ease of use.

External Hard Drive

With this method you need to copy files to an intermediate storage device (USB flash drive, external hard drive), then move the device to the other PC and transfer files to the final destination.

If you need to purchase an external hard drive to transfer data from one PC to another, this method can quickly become more expensive than other options.

Emails and cloud storage

Saved the best for last. Some people don’t realize that email can actually be used as a file transfer system. It’s a basic way to transfer big files that everyone has access to every day, making it significantly more convenient and, most importantly, secure.

If your file size doesn’t exceed the limit per email, you can simply email the files you want to transfer and then download them on another PC.

Cloud storage is also considered to be one of the simplest options to transfer files between PCs that require no intermediate drives, cables, or other hardware. With a cloud file sharing service one user uploads his files to a repository and then another user downloads them to his own device.

JUMBOmail

There are a lot of email and cloud storage providers out there, like Gmail, Yahoo, Dropbox, but one of the services that combines all these features making the process of file transfer fast and easy is JUMBOmail. There you are free to send big files up to 20 GB with no limitation on the number of files and without the slightest loss of quality.

Uploading large files

Simply send the files you want to transfer to your email using JUMBOmail service, open the mail on another PC and you have everything ready. The other way of transferring data from PC to PC on JUMBOmail is to upload the files to the download page, open JUMBOmail account on another PC and download the needed files from the download page.
